What is Reiki?

Reiki is basically translates ‘Universal Life Energy’. It is a healing art with Japanese roots from its founder Dr Mikao Usui.

Usui went on a quest to find this lost healing art he had rediscovered from ancient Sanskrit texts, which provided the formula and not the answer. Usui went to Mt Koriyama in Japan, there, he fasted and meditated for 3 week, at the end of this time he received a vision, here he received the Reiki symbols healers use today, this experience gave Usui the gift of healing, the formula was complete, he called it Reiki.

Reiki is not affiliated with any religious practice, and is not a belief system, Reiki energy comes from the universe itself, it is all around us, all the time, like electricity, we cannot see or feel it, until we switch it on, Reiki is the same.

Reiki works with our energy centres, our chakras, our bodies first line of defence, if any of these energy centres are out of balance or blocked sickness can enter the body, Reiki works from the inside out, to heal, balance and align the whole body.

Reiki can be used for general wellbeing, better sleep, stress reduction, to better cope with life’s challenges, to relax, comfort and sooth, to help facilitate the body to heal disease and illness, Reiki can be safety used for all conditions except broken bones as it will speed up the process to quick, therefore not healing right.

Reiki is now used in many medical care and hospital settings.
