Reiki for Animals

Even our beloved pets need treatment sometimes, and reiki is a wonderful gently noninvasive therapy they respond to amazing well as they are so sensitive to picking up on energy.

Reiki is beginning to become very popular with animals now, and lots of Veterinary practices recommend and work alongside Reiki practitioners.

Practical reasons to schedule a reiki appoint for you animal are according to the UK Reiki Federation:

Non- invasive. Can be given anywhere at any time - hands-on, hands-off or distantly, at a Vets practice, hospital or home. Requires no equipment. No need to move or disrupt an animal. Complements orthodox veterinary care. The animal is in control – Reiki can’t be forced. Relaxing, so may help pre-treatment /post-op. Always works for an animal’s highest good and depending on the situation and individual, one session may be all that is required.

The benefits of reiki for animals are many, including:

Greater comfort, improved feeling of wellbeing, promotion of relaxation which sometimes can lead to sleep, a greater sense of self, helping with behavioural issues, helping rescue animals get over trauma and learn to trust again, and for peaceful transition for animals ready to pass over.

Reiki can be helpful for any animal, reptile or bird, however big or small, domestic, working or farm animals.

Reiki is becoming very popular especially with horses, they tend to respond extremely well to reiki and are very sensitive to energy, this gently non-intrusive therapy can help them on all physical, emotional and mental levels.

Physical injuries, trauma, dietary changes, emotional problems, training issues or a combination of these or other problems, can cause cause energy blockages in the horse which can cause physical, psychological or behavioral problems, reiki flows through the horse much like an electric current, restoring positive energy, and with time and treatment reiki can clear these blockages and restore the horse to health. Saying that, Veterinary treatment is always recommended and advised and reiki practitioners never diagnose or guarantee to heal.

A veterinary surgeon does not need to be asked for permission in order for Reiki to be offered to animals. However, in the event of either the animal’s owner/ carer or the Reiki practitioner suspecting anything physically wrong with any animal, then a vet should be consulted prior to Reiki being offered so that an official diagnosis can be made first. [Exception: Reiki may be offered as first aid in an emergency situation purely for the purpose of calming an animal until the vet arrives].
