Hello Subscribers!
First I would personally like to thank you for joining my mailing list!
I'm a new business and your support really means a lot to me.
Newsletters will be monthly, I will post all kinds of interesting things about Reiki and Holistic Therapies that I come across and my own personal experiences, plus any specials deals I have on!I hope we can enjoy this journey together, to learn, to grow, and discover all the wonders the universe has for us in this age of enlightenment.
I first heard about Reiki years ago in a book I was reading, the story fascinated me, and that stayed in the back of my mind for ages, then a couple of years ago my husband was going through a stressful time, it was like a little switch clicked on and said 'try Reiki!' So I just Googled local Reiki practitioners and thats how I found my Reiki Master, my husband Graham and I both had a session and I was hooked! Reiki was just what I was looking for and needed! After that I took level 1 and 2, I am now doing my Masters which will be complete in July, the end of my Reiki training and the beginning of my Reiki Journey!
Let's start this journey together at the beginning, although healing energy has always been here, and is used in many different ways, the system I follow is Usui Shiki Ryoho and is translated as "the Usui System of Natural Healing." and comes from its founder Dr Mikao Usui. Usui was born on August 15th 1865 in the village of 'Taniai-mura'
As a child he studied in a Tendai Buddhist monastery school, he entered at an early age. He was also a student of different martial arts. His memorial states that he was a talented hard working student, he liked to read and his knowledge of medicine, psychology, fortune telling and theology of religions around the world.
Dr. Usui was the principal of the Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan, and also a Christian preacher and missionary. One day one of his students asked him if he could duplicate the healing by laying on of hands which the Bible describes was done by Christ.Dr. Usui replied he could not, and thereupon resigned his position at the university, he traveled to the United State, researching and learning all he could about healing, After studying seven years in the U.S. and discovering American Christians had no idea about Christ's healing by hands either, he began studying other philosophies and religions, including Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism.
He read a passage in the Buddhists texts about the Buddha healing by laying on hands and decided to return to Japan and see what the Buddhists there might know. After a few years of studying in a Japanese Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. Dr. Usui had still not found his answer. He later moved on to study in China with the Chinese Buddhists, but came to the same conclusion as he had in Japan, that they did not have the answers he sought either.
Realizing many original Buddhist text were written in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India, he decided to learn that language so that he might study those ancient Buddhist Sanskrit writings. After diligent study of Sanskrit, Dr. Usui eventually found an inscription in Sanskrit which explained how to do the laying on of hands, although the inscription did not contain instructions as to how to activate the energy.
Dr. Usui was inspired to return to the Zen temple in Kyoto and talk to his mentor, about what to do about activating the energy. The two of them decided Dr. Usui would be best to meditate at the top of a mountain, Mount Koriyama for 21 days. On the last day of the meditation Dr. Usui had a spectacular epiphany experience during which he was shown all Reiki symbols and their uses, and how to activate the energy and give the gift of Reiki, and healing by laying on of hands.
He then came down the mountain, and his journey of performing miraculous healings began. He later set off into the world doing good works, teaching Reiki, and healing the infirm with his newly-given gift, all the while learning many important lessons about human nature.
Dr Usui's choose Chujiro Hayashi as his successor, he in turn choose Hawayo Takata, every Reiki Master today comes from this linage, going back from master to master for a hundred years! Its a wonderful history to be apart of, and the gift of Reiki is ever growing, there is always something new to learn and discover, and besides healing, is an incredible tool for self improvement.
Love and Light to all, and dont forget to come and try the healing energy of Reiki for yourself!
Sarah.
