Hello my dear Subscribers!
I hope you all have had a good summer, the last few days have started getting a little bit chilly, before we know it, it will be Halloween again!
This has been a very sad month for my family and me, with the passing of my dear father, still, he lived to the good old age of 90, but it is still a hard thing to go through.
Reiki has helped tremendously, not just for healing, Reiki has so many different properties, but for calm, and peace and helping us through stressful times. I used it on my dad to before he passed, and I could see him visibly relax, and I know it helped him too, Reiki never interferes with an individual’s natural life or death process, returning to the non-physical is the ultimate healing and part of the souls natural progression, Reiki helps the transition with grace and ease. If anyone has loved ones about to pass over, even just sending them distance healing reiki can help them tremendously and comfort the families too.
I thought I would have a little chat about the Chakra system this month; it never ceases to amazes me the amount of people that have never heard of it! It's the first line of defence for our bodies, and it needs care and attention just like the physical ones we have, it definitely needs to be brought to our attention!
We have seven main Chakras, plus lots of smaller ones throughout the body, but we will stick to the main seven here for now.
Base or Root Chakra (last bone in spinal cord *coccyx*)
Sacral Chakra (ovaries/prostate)
Solar Plexus Chakra (navel area)
Heart Chakra (heart area)
Throat Chakra (throat and neck area)
Brow or Third Eye Chakra (pineal gland or third eye)
Crown Chakra (Top of head)
All these chakras exist within the subtle body, overlaying the physical body. Through modern physiology we can see that these seven chakras correspond exactly to the seven main nerve ganglia which emanate from the spinal column.
Chakras are centers of energy that mind our physical, mental, emotional and psychological well being, they are our first line of defence, if our energy system is not functioning properly, that is when disease can get through and attack the physical body.
This month we will discuss the first chakra, the Root chakra; it is associated with the following functions or behavioural characteristics:
Security, safety, Survival, Basic needs (food, sleep, shelter, self-preservation, etc.)
Physicality, physical identity and aspects of self, grounding, support and foundation for living our lives.
The root chakra provides the foundation on which we build our lives; it supports us in growing and feeling safe into exploring all the aspects of life. It is related to our feeling of safety and security, whether it’s physical or regarding our bodily needs, the first chakra questions are around the idea of survival and safety.
The root chakra is where we ground ourselves into the earth and anchor our energy into the manifest world.
When this chakra is out of balance we don’t feel safe, we are more likely to be ruled by fear. At the emotional level, the deficiencies or imbalance in the first chakra can be related to negativity, cynicism, eating disorders, greed, feeling of insecurity, and living on survival mode constantly. On the other hand, an overactive chakra can lead to fear turning into greed and paranoia, which are extreme forms of imbalance in the first chakra. Issues with control over food intake and diet are related to it.
There are lots of ways to open and balancing the root chakra, including grounding earth related activities, like gardening, walking barefoot, hiking, and yoga and meditation, and of course reiki which works through and clears all the chakras.
I hope my dear readers found this helpful, next month we will look at the second chakra, the Sacral.
Below is my colouring of the Root Chakra.
In Reiki love and Light.
Sarah.
